"I just kind of took the liberty and started (the rumor), because I was so irritated," Goho admitted. "All I heard was 'Bon Jovi this,' 'Bon Jovi's starting a restaurant'... It was like, 'Jeez, (Bon Jovi) was a household name due to the music, not the business."

It?s The Cheerleaders? Fault Your NFL Team Is Awful

If your football team lost this year, blame the cheerleaders. It?s their fault.

Well, that?s the rationale behind one item from the Wall Street Journal today, which points out that NFL teams without cheerleaders on staff ?have won four of the last six Super Bowls.? Blame the women.

Based on recent history, having cheerleaders on the sidelines may be the ultimate championship killer? The Packers and Steelers are once again among the best teams in their respective conferences, while the lions have clinched a wild-card spot and the Giants remain in playoff contention.

Of course, as the WSJ points out, the Browns have managed to buck this trend with admirable aplomb. They?re godawful even without the assistance of women.

In reality, the reason non-cheerleader teams fare better is because they have more financial resources. They clearly much have more cash around, since they aren?t paying a team of cheerers those massive salar? ?. oh, nevermind.

Giuliana Rancic: Back to Work!

Giuliana Rancic is back in front of the camera at E! News just a few weeks after undergoing a successful double mastectomy. Fans, coworkers and friends rejoice!

"It feels great to be back at work," Rancic, who is battling breast cancer, said. "I wasn't sure I was going to return to E! News this week or after the new year."

"The last thing I wanted to do was rush my recovery."

Giuliana Photo

"Thankfully, I've been feeling better every single day since surgery and this weekend my doctors gave me the green light to get back to work," she continued.

"Even though I moved a tad slower than usual today," she added, "Everyone welcomed me back with open arms and it was just a wonderful homecoming."

Rancic certainly didn't miss a bit as she warmly greeted her TV audience with stories about Matthew McConaughey and John Legend's engagements.

Moving on to the latest Mission: Impossible movie topping the weekend box office and a little Teen Mom legal drama, she clearly felt right at home.

Good to have you back, G.

Social Marketing: The Spokes to the American Cancer Society Hub ...

I recently connected with Karen Rose, Social Media Strategist for the National Home Office of the American Cancer Society (ACS), based in Atlanta, GA, as part of our interview series on effective use of social media in driving thought leadership, awareness and lead generation. Awareness could not be more excited to be the social media marketing platform partner of choice for ACS ? there are a few national brands that have elevated their social media presence and engagement to the ACS levels.? It was great to get a deeper perspective on ACS? approach to Social Reach (read about key social marketing success metrics in our free eBook The Social Funnel: Driving Business Value with Social Marketing), their take on the increasing importance of social marketing, and ACS? unique ability to listen, engage and educate their passionate followers.

A bit of social media overview for ACS first.? Besides their National Home Office, there are 12 regional divisions of ACS, each managing their social marketing independently, with social media agendas and strategies of their own. At the National Home Office level, ACS uses primarily Facebook, with its Fan Page counting close to 250,000 members, and Twitter approaching 200,000 followers. ACS can be found on MySpace and LinkedIn too. The ACS team actively publishes content which includes supporting multiple blogs such as Dr. Len?s Cancer Blog, authored by Dr. Lichtenfeld, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the National Office of the ACS, Expert Voices, authored by experts who discuss timely cancer topics, and the Choose You blog, encouraging women? to put their own health first.

I started by asking Karen about ACS? social philosophy and the role social plays in the organization?s overall marketing mix. ACS has embraced the social web as one of their most impactful marketing channels ? ?we really just need to be where the people are?, Karen put it simply. Karen and her team started to track conversations about cancer in the ?early? days of social media. They quickly realized there was a lot of inaccurate information and misconceptions about cancer being published and shared on a daily basis. ?Our team had to intervene?, Karen shares with passion, ?we needed to provide sound medical advice and offer ACS?s vetted resources to help patients and their loved one cope with the disease?.

It is not surprising that Karen and her team are maniacally focused on responsiveness. ?We use the Awareness social marketing hub and have incorporated our national call center with the Hub now?, comments Karen. ACS monitors discussions on their Facebook and Twitter channels 24/7- yes, including nights, weekends, and holidays. By listening to conversations and responding to people in real time, ACS can influence discussions and direct people to the variety of ACS web resources where information and advice are vetted and clinically sound.

?We want to inform people about the many ACS resources we have so they can stay well and get well ?, continues Karen. ACS?s goal is to inform and educate about screenings, guidelines, support groups, and medical resources. ?ACS uses social as the spokes of our hub to pull people back to our web properties?, comments Karen.

It was quite revealing to hear Karen talk about ACS? selection of social media platforms and their strategy for building presence on social networks such as Facebook.? The ACS main Facebook Fan page ? ?American Cancer Society, focuses on cancer, cancer-related topics, survivorship, and care giving, and serves primarily as an information and educational resource.? Other nationally managed Facebook Fan pages, such as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Relay For Life, are event-based. The Relay For Life Fan page, backed by over 110,000 passionate followers, exists in support of a fun-filled overnight event, celebrating survivorship, and to raise money for research and various programs coordinated by ACS. The ACS More Birthdays Facebook page, with over 300,000 Fans, was created to celebrate birthdays and ?survivorship. The Choose You Fan page is directed towards women, who want to have their own conversation about prevention. ACS? approach to building multiple targeted pages on social networks such as Facebook based on users? needs and passions was validated as a best practice in our recent analysis of over 100 customers using the Awareness social marketing publishing platform. Our analysis showed that best-in-class companies have at least 13 Facebook Fan pages and 10+ Twitter accounts, allowing them to better target the needs of niche communities (you can download our free eBook The Social Funnel: Driving Business Value with Social Marketing for more details).

With such deep and engaging presence, I asked Karen to share some of ACS? social successes.? One of the most impactful campaigns for them is a ?More Birthdays campaign, which started a few months ago. ACS had several artists and musicians create special art pieces, music and videos, to help ACS followers celebrate birthdays. The artists? collective body of work was then used to create ?Happy Birthday? messages delivered to cell phones and as e-cards. The campaign became so popular that a number of fans responded by submitting their own ?Happy Birthday? video responses. ?The reaction and sharing of these video messages is phenomenal?, comments Karen. This viral response prompted the More Birthdays team to launch a user-generated artwork contest, including song and video submissions, with the winner to be featured on the More Birthdays Facebook page next to the established artists. At the time of the interview, the contest was still underway, but based on the initial response and number of submissions, I can tell this campaign is off to an amazing start. Karen attributes the success of the campaign to the fact that ACS has given their audience a great outlet to share their stories. ?The More Birthdays campaign opened it up for people to allow them to honor a loved one or tell their story?. And in the process, every video and artwork was connected to an aspect of work being done by the American Cancer Society, tying birthday songs to important cancer facts. ?In a sense, we have empowered our followers to help us tell our organizational story?, continues Karen. ?This can be truly powerful and long-lasting?.

Karen?s advice to today?s hesitant Chief Marketing Officers who are still not sure social is relevant for their organization? ?Do it?, she says,? People are out there, they are talking about your brand, they want to interact with you,? she adds. ?It?s important to be there to represent yourself and your organization the way you want to be represented.?

So to any of your marketing skeptics, we join Karen and her team in saying: do it, embrace social to its full potential.? Empower your customers to share their stories and see how they weave your own brand DNA into them.? And for those of you who actively use social in your marketing ? please don?t be shy.? Share your successes with us and our community of savvy social marketers by commenting on this blog, on Twitter, Facebook at Social Media Marketing Best Practices?and in our LinkedIn Social Media Marketing Mavens Group.

$5,000 Stolen From Church In New Kensington

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) ? Hundreds of parishioners came to Mount Saint Peter Church in New Kensington this Christmas weekend to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

But sometime between the conclusion of midnight mass and the service on Christmas morning, thieves broke in stealing roughly $5,000 in Christmas offerings.

?These people are career-minded in criminal activity,? New Kensington Police Chief Ron Zellers said. ?They know the amount of money that the churches are receiving during the holiday.?

The thieves got in by breaking a cross window in the office door and reaching inside to open the lock.

?Once inside the church they went to the office area where they rummaged through the office where they did find the Christmas mass offerings and did take them,? Chief Zellers said.

Just last week, the nearby United Presbyterian Church was also hit. Thieves there got away with several computers and about $500 that had been raised for a mission trip.

The suspects in both of these burglaries have the same M.O. That?s why police are now warning other churches in town to step up security and be on guard.

?There is a chance it?s the same individuals involved. We do have some persons of interest that we?re looking at, but of course this is early in investigation and we?ll see where it goes,? Chief Zellers said.

Back in October, law enforcement officers from across the country travelled to Mount Saint Peter Church for the funeral of fallen Lower Burrell Police Officer Derek Kotecki.

The pastor of the church tells police he is planning to install a security camera as soon as possible.

?It?s very sad, very sad. During the holidays these churches help the homeless, they feed people, they do a lot of things for the less fortunate in the community and then to see a church or churches get hit ? it?s just a very sad thing,? Chief Zellers added.

Stratfor cyberattack adds an exclamation point to ?Year of the Hack?

The 'hack and extract' attack on the strategic think tank Stratfor will only contribute to the public and media awareness of cybercrime that has grown throughout 2011.

Don?t be too surprised if historians look back at 2011 and dub it ?The Year of the Hack.? If so, it won't likely be due to raw numbers of computer networks infiltrated or websites defaced, but rather the fact that cyberspies, criminals, and hacktivists finally registered as a major threat in the public mind and with news media.

The ?hack and extract? attack targeting the Texas-based strategic think tank Strategic Forecasting Inc. (or Statfor), which the firm reported Sunday, reinforced that growing awareness of cybercrime.

In the attack, which the hackers said was carried out by the group Anonymous but was later disavowed by others claiming to speak for the hacktivist group, Statfor?s confidential client list was stolen, as were thousands of the clients? credit card numbers. Some clients reported fraudulent charges on their accounts.

It?s difficult to determine if the overall number of cyberincidents in 2011 was more or less significant than previous years since the severity of such attacks is so subjective and information so limited, cyberexperts say.

Yet the sheer volume of high-profile incidents covered heavily by news media outlets seemed significant to several analysts while at the same time a large number of hacks were quite sophisticated and alarming from a national security perspective.

?There seems to have been a rather noticeable increase in attention given to hacking by news media and a corresponding increase in the public interest and awareness of such hacks,? says Patrick Underwood, a University of Washington researcher on online communities, including Anonymous.

At least 58 highly-publicized hacking attacks occurred in 2011 with victim organizations around the world ranging from law enforcement agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and governments to defense agencies and military contractors, according to a Monitor tally compiled from lists drawn up by the Center for Strategic Studies, The Hacker News, and a George Mason University study.

?I would call it the ?Great Awakening,? when people finally realized the extent of the problem,? writes James Lewis, director of the Technology and Public Policy Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington in an e-mail interview.

While some highly reported hacks were ultimately deemed relatively trivial ? briefly knocking the public website of the Central Intelligence Agency out of commission, for instance ? such attacks were still part of a 2011 wave that showed many major government institutions seemingly quite vulnerable.

Leafs coach Ron Wilson tweets he has a new contract

Facebook ?? Tweet

The Canadian Press

Date: Sunday Dec. 25, 2011 2:45 PM ET

TORONTO ? Ron Wilson must have been good this year.

Two days after hinting at his desire for a new contract on Twitter, the Toronto Maple Leafs coach tweeted the team has given him an extension.

"'He came! He came!' Remember saying that as a little kid? Well he did: I got a new Red Ryder BB gun and a contract extension!" Wilson tweeted Sunday morning.

Wilson tweeted Friday that his Christmas wish was for a new contract from Leafs general manager Brian Burke.

"This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a certain piece of paper in my stocking. #whatcouldthatbe," Wilson posted on his official Twitter account.

The 56-year-old is in the final season of a four-year contract and currently has the Leafs sixth in the Eastern Conference with 40 points.

Toronto has not made the playoffs in three prior seasons under Wilson, who is 119-120-42 overall with the Leafs.

The team did not immediately respond to an email seeking confirmation of the new deal.

Wilson, a defenceman in his playing days who was selected by the Leafs in the 1975 draft, has a 637-546-101-88 coaching record with Anaheim, Washington, San Jose and Toronto. He is 47-48 in the playoffs.

This is a .99 Emulator in the Android Market that lets you play original Sony Playstation games. Search for PSX in the market. It works really well on the newest android phones. The games i tried out: Digimon World 3 ? It seems to run very well Crash Banicoot Team Racing ? Didn?t work Harvest moon ? Didn?t work Mortal Kombat Trilogy ? Freezes at intro Street Fighter vs Xmen ? works well but seemed a little slow You need the BIOS file or the app is worthless, which you can find here: bit.ly You need to find roms to play different games, which you can find on the internet but understand that it?s not legal to own roms if you don?t own the actual real game. A lot of games don?t work, but for the ones that do, they?re definitely enjoyable to play. You can use a Nintendo Wiimote controller from the Wii instead of the touch screen or keypad but some phones don?t work with that feature.

President Obama Shops For Presents

?

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) -? President Obama spent some time on Wednesday afternoon doing some Christmas shopping in Alexandria, Virginia, accompanied by "First Dog" Bo.

After the Petsmart, Obama stopped at Best Buy. As he went in the store he said? he was there to buy gifts for his two daughters. The President went straight for the video game section where he

bought the Wii Just Dance 3. He told the press it was for the girls and that cameras would never get pictures of him playing the game. The president also bought the Sims 3 pets special and some apple gift cards.

As he paid for the games, he joked about whether his credit card would work.

On the list of purchased items:
- Wii just dance 3 39.99
- The sims 3 pets special 49.99
- 2 $50 apple gift cards

Total: 194.48

Sirocco Enterprises recalls cocktail mix on allergy fears (Reuters)

(Reuters) ? Sirocco Enterprises, Inc is recalling bottles of Bloody Mary cocktail mix because it contains soy and wheat not listed on the label that could cause serious allergic reactions, the company said on Friday.

The Jefferson, Louisiana-based company is recalling its 33.8 fluid ounce bottles of Pat O'Brien's Bloody Mary Cocktail Mix that were distributed at retail stores nationwide and over the Internet.

The mix had been distributed in packaging that did not list the presence of soy and wheat in the product.

People with allergies to soy and wheat could be at risk for serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the mix, Sirocco said.

No illnesses associated with this issue have been reported to date, the company said.

Sirocco halted production and distribution of the mix until the problem is resolved.

Victim in taped beating gets support

A homeless man who was beaten and bloodied in a videotaped attack that was posted on YouTube has received an outpouring of support in his New Jersey shore community, a development that has renewed the spirits of some of those who were outraged by the violence.

By Tuesday, a Facebook page was set up to connect those who wanted to assist David Ivins, and police were coordinating with a nonprofit group to accept donations.

The 50-year-old Ivins, with his thick beard and layers of clothes, was a familiar sight in Wall, Belmar and Lake Como. He could often be seen riding his bike around the Monmouth County towns and inside their bars.

He told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he was preparing to move into a donated hotel room and that he wanted to take advantage of the help he's getting.

"I'm going to sober up," he said as he spoke to a reporter in the lobby of the Belmar Police station. He had just had a meal of spaghetti and salad, and his backpack and two shopping bags were bulging with other food he'd been given.

Ivins doesn't remember what day the attack happened. Police, judging by a YouTube time stamp, say it was more than a week ago.

In the video, a young man tells the camera, "About to go beat up this bum." Then it shows him punching and kicking Ivins in the face, bloodying his nose, before telling him, "Merry Christmas." The cameraman, heard but not seen in the video, laughs along with the attacker.

Twenty-year-old Taylor Giresi, of Lake Como, was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit assault, robbery and theft. He was jailed Tuesday on bail of $111,000.

Police say the 17-year-old cameraman, whose name has not been released, will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and theft. He's already charged with conspiracy and has been released to the custody of his parents.

Ivins said he's only faced an attack like the one on YouTube ? it has since been removed ? once before, about 2? years ago.

As Ivins spoke Tuesday, he rubbed his chest where he was still sore from the most recent beating. He said his back was also aching.

"I probably would have been KO'd and dead if I was drunker," he lamented.

Ivins says he's been homeless on and off for 18 years. Some locals say they believe it has been even longer than that.

He said he's had a number of jobs, including construction work, working on the floor of a clothing factory, cleaning out toilets in boardwalk public restrooms, working for a die-cast company and working in a pizzeria. But he says injuries and minor legal charges like trespassing and alcohol have always kept him from sticking around.

Ivins said he has found places to keep him out of the elements at least. He said that before moving to the hotel, he would need to swing by a garage where he has been staying to pick up a couple of pairs of shoes and a tool set he's stowed there.

He said he had scrounged money to keep his radio in batteries. And for food, sometimes he'd eat sandwiches from a convenience store garbage bin.

Crystal Gil, who works at Smoker's Paradise in Lake Como, said Ivin always seemed harmless when she saw him on the street ? though you wanted to steer clear if he was in a bad mood.

She was so upset about his attack that she decided to collect money to help him at the smoke shop ? and posted her intentions on Facebook.

She's been heartened as she's followed messages on the social networking site from people pledging a new bicycle for Ivins, along with other donations.

"Poor guy," she said. "He didn't do no harm to nobody."

Wall Police Lt. Walter Pomphrey said the department could tell by the volume of calls it received that people were deeply troubled that someone could be so hurtful to one of their own.

"Anyone has to feel some sympathy for the guy," he said.

He said the relief group Wall Helps Its People had a fund for monetary donations that will be used to provide services for Ivins.
