Sony Xperia SL becomes official, gets 200Mhz bump

Sony has a slightly new handset as a successor to the Xperia S. The Sony Xperia SL is basically the Xperia S with a 200MHz bump in processor speed.

This introduction reminds us of the time when the then Sony-Ericsson also introduced the Xperia Arc S with a faster processor compared to the similarly-design Xperia Arc.

So that?s a bump from a dual-core 1.5GHz to a dual-core 1.7GHz.

Sony Xperia SL specs:
4.3-inch HD Reality Display @ 1280?720 pixels, 342ppi
Mobile Bravia Engine
Qualcomm S3 MSM8260
Snapdragon 1.7GHz dual-core processor
1GB RAM
1.5GB built-in storage
32GB external storage (non-removable)
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA
Bluetooth 2.1
NFC support
GPS w/ aGPS support
12.1MP Exmor R rear camera
1080p video recording
1.3MP front facing camera
720p video recording
micro-HDMI out
Li-Ion 1750mAh battery
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

The changes might not be that much but it seems coincidental that Google has also announced it is supporting the Xperia S under the AOSP (Android Open Source Project).

Meaning, the Xperia S will be getting some special treatment from Google the same way the Nexus line gets first dibs on the lastest Android updates.
